A further education college in the Cambridge area is seeking a Student Advice and Safeguarding Officer to join the Student Services team on a temporary, full-time basis.
About the Role
This is a key front-line role providing direct support to students, ensuring their wellbeing, safety, and success during their time at college. You will work as part of a dedicated team managing safeguarding cases and delivering personalised student support in line with the college’s safeguarding responsibilities.
Your role will involve working in a multi-agency context to manage risk and provide appropriate interventions, as well as supporting students through bursary assessments and engaging with them through college-wide events and wellbeing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of safeguarding and student support cases

Respond to safeguarding concerns in line with college policies and statutory guidance

Liaise with external agencies to ensure coordinated support for students

Support delivery of college events, wellbeing campaigns, and pop-up advice sessions

Assess bursary applications and ensure financial support is allocated appropriately

Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
What We’re Looking For

Experience working in a safeguarding, student welfare, or advisory role

Strong understanding of safeguarding processes, including multi-agency working

Ability to manage sensitive and challenging situations with professionalism and empathy

Excellent communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills

Commitment to promoting student welfare and equality of opportunity

A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one prior to starting)
Desirable

Relevant qualification in safeguarding, youth work, counselling, or similar

Experience working in an educational or college setting
