Location: Colchester/Braintree
Salary: £45,443 – £46,713 per annum (including up to £3,000 skills supplement)
Bonus: £5,000 on successful completion of probation
Contract: Full-time, permanent
An established Further Education provider is seeking a passionate and eco-conscious Assistant Area Head – Engineering and Electrical Renewables to inspire and drive the development of high-quality curriculum in Engineering, Manufacturing, Welding and Fabrication, and Renewable Technologies.
This is an exciting leadership role offering reduced teaching hours alongside the opportunity to guide a small team, shape future provision, and deliver innovative courses in areas such as Solar PV, Battery Storage, EV Charging, and Heat Pumps. You will be based in a state-of-the-art Net Zero Centre, designed to equip students with the skills to succeed in a fast-changing sector.

Essential Requirements

Level 3 Electrical/Engineering qualification (NVQ & AM2 or equivalent)

GCSE English and Maths at Level 2+ (or equivalent)

Teaching qualification at Level 5 (or willingness to complete within 3 years)

Assessor/Verifier Awards (or willingness to achieve within 6 months)

Strong industry knowledge and/or FE sector experience

Proven leadership skills or ambition to step into management
