Overall Purpose of the Job
To lead employer engagement and provide high-quality training, learning, and formative assessment for apprentices and support apprentices in excelling in their roles, achieving apprenticeship standards, and progressing toward highly successful careers.
To develop and foster strong working relationships with employers to grow apprenticeship opportunities and enhance business development across the college.
Main Duties & Responsibilities

Offer a high standard of service to apprentices, employers, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth, supportive experience across the programme.

Provide expert training and formative assessment to apprentices. This includes preparing apprentices for their end-point assessment, ensuring they gain the skills, knowledge, and behaviours required for successful career progression.

Deliver constructive, timely, and detailed feedback on both practical and knowledge assessments, ensuring apprentices clearly understand their progress and areas for improvement.

Ensure that health and safety is paramount in all training and assessment activities. Provide comprehensive training in health and safety specific to their vocational subject, with strict adherence to legal and industry standards.

Embrace the college ethos of sustainability and green energy, promoting a culture of sustainable practices at all times.

Lead business development initiatives by building and maintaining strong working relationships with employers. Offer a customer-focused service which is relevant and tailored to industry.

Support employers through the apprenticeship process—from programme planning and enrolment to apprentice progress monitoring and End Point Assessment.

Ensure precise, timely, and fully compliant documentation of apprentice progress, maintaining up-to-date records that meet all regulatory, audit, and internal reporting standards.

Ensure all records are consistently monitored, updated, and available for inspection or audit at any time. Proactively manage and verify the accuracy of information to support transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement of apprenticeship programmes.

Carry out comprehensive tripartite reviews of progress, ensuring that training plans are regularly updated, health and safety protocols are thoroughly reviewed, and apprentices meet all key milestones. Guarantee timely submission of all relevant documentation.

Manage the e-course log and ensure curriculum quality files are complete. Embrace and integrate learning technologies to support both teaching and administrative processes.

Use relevant tools, such as digital and e-portfolio platforms, to meet the individual needs of apprentices while ensuring compliance with college standards.

Participate in meetings, department training, and any other relevant professional development activities to stay updated with curriculum, teaching, and business development trends.

Ensure adherence to the requirements of funding rules, Awarding Bodies, End-Point Assessment Organisations, Ofsted, and College policies and procedures.

Work closely with the Services to Business and other cross-college departments to ensure smooth coordination and continuous improvement of apprenticeships.

Actively participate in the promotion of the college and contribute to recruitment efforts including open and career events to support the growth of the College including apprenticeships, FE, and HE.

Undertake such other responsibilities as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.
