Job Purpose
The Electrical Installation Assessor is responsible for supporting, assessing, and monitoring learners undertaking electrical installation apprenticeships and work-based qualifications. The role involves carrying out workplace assessments, reviewing evidence portfolios, providing coaching and guidance, and ensuring learners make timely progress towards successful achievement of their qualifications.
The postholder will work closely with employers, curriculum staff, and apprenticeship teams to maintain high standards of teaching, learning, assessment, and employer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment and Learner Support
- Conduct regular workplace assessments and reviews for apprentices and work-based learners.
- Assess learners against qualification standards, awarding body requirements, and apprenticeship standards.
- Provide constructive feedback and support learners in developing occupational competence.
- Monitor learner progress and implement intervention strategies where required.
- Support learners in gathering and presenting evidence for portfolios and end-point assessment preparation.
- Maintain accurate assessment records using the college's management information systems.
Employer Engagement
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with employers and workplace mentors.
- Conduct regular progress reviews involving learners and employers.
- Advise employers on apprenticeship requirements, funding rules, and learner development.
- Promote positive employer engagement to enhance learner outcomes and retention.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure assessment practice complies with awarding organisation requirements.
- Participate in internal quality assurance activities and standardisation meetings.
- Prepare for and support external quality assurance visits.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities and quality enhancement plans.
Curriculum and Industry Development
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electrical installation regulations, standards, and industry developments.
- Support curriculum teams with industry insights and employer feedback.
- Assist with recruitment, induction, and progression activities for learners.
- Contribute to open evenings, employer events, and promotional activities.
Safeguarding and Compliance
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout all activities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and college policies.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns in accordance with college procedures.
- Support learners with additional needs where appropriate.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- Relevant assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, D32/D33, or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe).
- GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
