About the role:

We are currently seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our Additional Support department at an FE College group.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Being responsible for providing support to learners with the learning difficulties and/or disabilities in all aspects of the college curriculum.
  • Providing overall care of the learner and enable them to access the college facilities and develop independence within the wider community.
  • Being an active member of the Foundation/ main college team and assisting in the development of individual programmes and the assessment of student progress.
  • Providing learner support to a group of learners or on a one to one basis within all aspects of the college curriculum.
  • Providing the support needs required by the ALS Team Leader, Lecturer and learner.
  • Attending regular meetings to provide information for review and evaluation purposes.
  • Maintaining appropriate records as required by the College e.g. registers, progress reports.
  • Developing the independent living skills of the learner.
  • Developing and monitoring the ILP’s of the learners with the tutor.
  • Maintaining and updating resources available to support learning.
  • Ensuring the classroom and materials are kept to a high standard to promote a healthy and stimulating learning environment.
  • Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns in line with college procedures.
  • Being responsible for promoting equality and diversity in line with college procedures.
  • Being responsible for following health and safety requirements in line with college policy and procedures.
  • Participating proactively in training and development including qualification development required in the job role.

About you:

  • Hold a Level 2 Learner Support Certificate or equivalent or be willing to work towards
  • Be educated to Level 2 in Maths and English
  • Have working knowledge of Learner Support post 16
  • Have experience of providing support to individuals in an educational or care setting
  • Possess the ability consistently to contribute to a high quality learning experience for all students
  • Possess the ability consistently to demonstrate high levels of performance in the job role
  • Have a willingness to work on all sites
  • Have a flexible approach to work patterns
